New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has issued an alert to state governments, warning of a possible risk of violence in India following US-Israel strikes on Iran.
In a letter sent to chief secretaries and directors general of police (DGPs) of all states, the ministry asked authorities to closely monitor attempts to organise pro-Iran protests and related mobilisation.
The advisory also calls for tracking radical speakers and social media users who post content that could incite violence, along with swift action against hate speech and provocation online.
States have been asked to strengthen security arrangements in their jurisdictions. The ministry said prohibitory orders under Section 144 may be imposed if required as part of preventive steps to avoid communal tension and violent incidents.
