AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), who has travelled to Delhi, avoided interacting with reporters at the airport on Sunday. When journalists raised questions, he responded briefly, saying they could meet the next day, and left.
The development comes amid ongoing discussions over seat-sharing for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The AIADMK-led alliance is said to include the BJP, PMK, TMC (Moopanar), AMMK, the Indian Democratic Party, Puthiya Needhi Katchi, Tamilaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, Puratchi Bharatham and a few other parties.
According to the report, alliance partners have expressed dissatisfaction as the AIADMK has not yet formed a committee to hold formal talks on seat allocation. EPS had met alliance leaders in Madurai on Saturday in the presence of Union Minister Piyush Goyal, but the talks reportedly did not reach a conclusion.
In this backdrop, EPS’s sudden Delhi visit has drawn attention, with sources indicating he may meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. His refusal to address the media has also fuelled expectations that he could make an important announcement on seat-sharing on Monday.
