Tehran has alleged that Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility has come under attack, accusing the United States and Israel of carrying out the strike. Iran says the site has been used for uranium enrichment, while Western countries have long claimed it is linked to weapons development.

The allegation comes as the Israel–US military campaign against Iran entered its third day, with Iran reporting that key figures, including Khamenei, were killed in the attacks.

Iran’s envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Reza Najafi, told the agency that the Natanz facility—described by Tehran as a peaceful and safeguarded site—was targeted by the US and Israel.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said the situation in the Middle East is deeply worrying and urged all sides to exercise maximum restraint. He added that the agency had not received any information confirming that Iran’s nuclear installations were attacked or damaged.

Speaking at an emergency IAEA meeting convened at Russia’s request, Grossi warned that the presence of nuclear facilities, research sites and fuel storage locations in the region raises the risk to nuclear safety. He said the agency is aware of locations holding nuclear and radioactive materials and has issued guidance on immediate steps in case of an attack or accident, noting that a serious radiological release with major consequences—including possible evacuations from large cities—cannot be ruled out.
