Badminton player PV Sindhu has returned to India safely after being stranded at Dubai airport following airspace closures.

The disruption came amid an extraordinary situation in the Middle East after military strikes began between Israel and Iran, with reports of aerial attacks affecting cities including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha and Riyadh.

Sindhu was travelling by flight to participate in a badminton tournament in Birmingham, the UK, when she got stuck in Dubai. She and her team were accommodated safely at a hotel near the Dubai airport.

Sindhu later landed safely at Bengaluru airport. In a social media post, she said she was relieved to be back home after the past few days and expressed gratitude to everyone who ensured their safety during the difficult period.
