New York: Military analysts have estimated that the war being waged by the United States against Iran is costing the US military thousands of crores of rupees each day. They said the first 24 hours alone amounted to about $779 million, roughly ₹7,088 crore.

The report notes that US and Israeli forces are carrying out sustained strikes, and that daily operations add significant pressure on American defence spending. Prior preparations—such as moving warships, positioning aircraft at overseas bases and deploying personnel—are estimated at $630 million (about ₹5,733 crore).

Among the assets involved is the USS Gerald R. Ford, described as the US Navy’s largest aircraft carrier. The vessel, with about 4,600 personnel, is estimated to cost around $6.5 million per day to operate.

Separately, a Brown University report cited in the article said the US provided Israel $21.7 billion in military aid from October 2023 through 2025, and an additional $9.65–$12 billion for operations supporting Israel in Yemen, Iran and the wider Middle East—bringing the two-year total to roughly $31–$33 billion.

War experts quoted in the article project that the Iran conflict could cost the US at least $40 billion and as much as $115 billion for two months. If the war drags on, the estimate could rise to $210 billion. The article also notes the US defence budget for 2025 is $850 billion, while India’s 2025–26 defence budget is cited as $81 billion.
