New Delhi: The Union government has stepped up efforts to bring back Indians stranded in West Asia as tensions linked to the Iran-Israel conflict disrupt air travel in the region.

With parts of international airspace in the region closed for security reasons, flight operations have been affected and Dubai airport has faced disruptions, leaving many Indian travellers unable to return.

Following talks with IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet, special evacuation flights were arranged. Passengers were brought back safely from Dubai on special services operated by IndiGo and Air India.

IndiGo is also expected to operate 10 special evacuation flights from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, with departures to be decided based on the situation and security conditions. Authorities have also planned alternate routings to avoid restricted airspace.

Meanwhile, international services between India and West Asia are operating at limited levels in line with airspace restrictions. A high-level review meeting chaired by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu issued directions to airlines on transparent support, including refunds, rescheduling and passenger assistance, stressing that safety cannot be compromised.
