India has conveyed its condolences following the death of Iran’s religious leader and ruler, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In New Delhi, a condolence book has been opened at the Iranian Embassy. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited the mission and signed the register on behalf of the Government of India.
The development comes amid reports of heavy attacks on Iran by Israeli and US forces. The report said Khamenei and his family members were killed on February 28.
Iran has stated that it will retaliate. India had not issued a public comment on Khamenei’s death before the Foreign Secretary’s visit to the embassy on Wednesday.
