New Delhi: India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has rejected claims that the United States could use Indian ports to launch attacks on Iran.

The controversy followed remarks by former US Army colonel Douglas Macgregor in a media interview, where he suggested the US would be compelled to rely on India and its ports.

According to the MEA’s fact-checking unit, the assertion is entirely untrue. In a post on X, the ministry said reports claiming the US Navy would use Indian ports to attack Iran are “baseless and fabricated.”

The ministry’s statement sought to counter the narrative circulating in sections of the media and on social platforms, reiterating that the claim lacks evidence.

No further details were provided by the MEA beyond the denial and the fact-check assessment.
