Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed concern over the ongoing conflicts in West Asia and Ukraine, calling for an early end to the wars. He said problems cannot be solved through military conflict alone and stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy.
Modi made the remarks after meeting Finland President Alexander Stubb in New Delhi during the latter’s four-day visit to India. Following their talks, the two sides signed three key agreements aimed at expanding cooperation.
One pact on migration cooperation is expected to make it easier for Indian technology professionals to find work opportunities in Finland. A renewed environment agreement—first signed in 2020—will support joint work in areas such as waste-to-energy, green hydrogen, wind power and energy storage technologies.
A third agreement focuses on cooperation in the field of statistics, enabling both countries to exchange practices and experience in producing official statistics. Modi also said India and Finland will broaden collaboration in advanced technologies including artificial intelligence, 6G telecommunications, clean energy and quantum computing, and described the two as important partners in digital technology, infrastructure and sustainable development.
