PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss chaired a meeting of party functionaries at Thailapuram near Tindivanam to discuss which front the party should join for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Senior leaders including honorary president Mani, working president Sri Gandhi and MLA Arul attended the discussions. With efforts to enter either the DMK or AIADMK alliance not yielding progress, Ramadoss sought views on whether PMK should consider an alliance with actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
According to participants, several functionaries argued that contesting alone would be less effective than joining an alliance that could help the party demonstrate strength through higher vote share and secure recognition for the Ramadoss-led PMK.
Meanwhile, a civil case filed by Ramadoss is listed for hearing in a Chennai court on March 9, where the Anbumani side and the Election Commission are expected to present their explanations. Supporters said a clearer decision on the alliance could emerge after the hearing.
Party sources also claimed that 35 constituencies in the northern districts where PMK has influence have been identified, and that an announcement on a possible TVK tie-up could come within a couple of days. However, when asked, MLA Arul said he was not aware of any such information.
