UPSC on Thursday announced the final results of the 2025 Civil Services Examination, conducted for recruitment to 23 services including IAS, IPS, IFS and IRS. Rajeshwari Suvi from Vadipatti in Madurai district secured All-India Rank (AIR) 2, marking a major achievement for Tamil Nadu.
The notification for the 2025 examination was issued on January 22 last year. The preliminary exam was held on May 25 across 79 cities, with more than seven lakh candidates appearing. Results for the prelims were declared on June 11, with 14,156 candidates qualifying, including 723 from Tamil Nadu.
The main examination was conducted from August 22 to 31, and its results were released on November 11. A total of 2,756 candidates, including 155 from Tamil Nadu, were shortlisted for the interview stage, which was held in two phases.
According to the final outcome, Anuj Agnihotri from Chittorgarh district in Rajasthan secured AIR 1. Chandigarh’s Akansh Thul ranked third, while Raja Muhaideen from Tamil Nadu secured AIR 7.
UPSC listed 1,087 vacancies across services, including 180 for IAS, 55 for IFS, 150 for IPS, 507 for Group A and 195 for Group B posts. Based on the interview stage, 958 candidates were selected. In Tamil Nadu, 60 candidates cleared the exam; Arun Kumar, who wrote the mains in Tamil, secured rank 585. The state’s Skill Development Corporation said 56 of the 60 successful candidates benefited from the Tamil Nadu government’s “Naan Mudhalvan” stipend-based coaching scheme, including 39 who underwent a residential programme run jointly with the All India Civil Services Coaching Centre.
