Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday announced that Tamil Nadu will construct 7 lakh houses by 2030 under the ‘Kalaignar Dream Home’ scheme, covering both rural and urban areas. He said the target includes 5 lakh houses in villages and 2 lakh in towns and cities.
The announcement was made at the valedictory event of the ‘Ungal Kanavai Sollunga’ initiative, held at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam under the theme “Tamil Nadu – 2030: Dreams Come True”. Stalin said the government had gathered aspirations from 1.80 lakh families and would take forward key priorities through 14 major initiatives for the next five years.
In health, the Chief Minister said special camps would be organised to detect and treat diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer at an early stage. He also announced that mental health counselling centres would be set up in all districts.
On agriculture, he said the state’s net sown area would be increased to 50 lakh hectares, with soil health cards to be issued to 43 lakh farmers and farm equipment to be provided to 1.25 lakh beneficiaries.
In education and skills, Stalin said the ‘No Dropout Education Dream 2030’ programme would ensure students complete schooling successfully, with smart classrooms in government and aided schools. He also announced modernisation of 300 libraries under ‘Library 5.0’, opening of 1,000 model ‘Victory Schools’, expansion of higher education infrastructure to reach a 90% enrolment rate by 2030, and establishment of AI labs in every educational institution, along with skill training initiatives in select sectors.
