The Kumbabhishekam of the Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple has been scheduled for September 19, according to a decision taken by the authorities.
A consultation meeting on the temple’s consecration was held in Chennai under the chairmanship of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Minister Sekar Babu.
Officials noted that renovation works and the restoration of the Veeravasantharayar Mandapam have been completed.
However, as the temple hosts festivals and processions throughout the year and these cannot be halted, the consecration has been fixed for September 19.
