Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday said the “Dravidian model” government has been delivering balanced development for all sections of society. He was speaking at an event in Thoothukudi.
During the programme, he inaugurated a super-speciality hospital built at a cost of Rs 136 crore and distributed welfare assistance worth Rs 110 crore. He said the DMK government under Chief Minister M K Stalin has been implementing multiple schemes.
Udhayanidhi cited the free bus travel scheme for women, the Chief Minister’s breakfast scheme benefiting 22 lakh students, and said Tamil Nadu students performing well in the recently released UPSC results reflected the success of the “Naan Mudhalvan” initiative.
He also referred to the Chief Minister’s assurance that the women’s entitlement amount would be increased to Rs 2,000 if the DMK returns to power. He added that the government aims to build and hand over 7 lakh more houses by 2030 and set up 100% smart classrooms in government and government-aided schools.
In a later interaction with reporters, Udhayanidhi said Assembly election dates have not been announced, but DMK members are continuously meeting people and reminding them that 99% of promises have been fulfilled. He said the party is considering whether a separate campaign is necessary, and added that the DMK’s election manifesto would be released soon with several major announcements. On his candidature, he said he would contest from whichever constituency the party leadership decides.
