Chennai: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin extended greetings on International Women’s Day, urging women to “break barriers and keep moving forward.” In his message, he said the Dravidian Model government would stand with women at every step of their journey.
Addressing “victorious Tamil women,” Stalin said the world would support their success and added that his government would continue to back their progress. He concluded by conveying Women’s Day wishes to all.
Meanwhile, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) also released a statement greeting mothers, sisters and young girls. He described women as the backbone of families and said their sacrifices were beyond measure, recalling that former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa introduced several initiatives for women.
EPS criticised the current DMK government, citing concerns over an unsafe environment and rising prices affecting families. He said that if AIADMK returns to power, women would be provided a monthly assistance of Rs 2,000, calling it recognition of their work.
He also said the subsidised two-wheeler scheme for five lakh women would be revived, and pledged support to ensure women’s safety during travel, at educational institutions and workplaces.
