Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India must continuously modernise and improve its education system to match the needs of a changing world economy.
Addressing a post-budget webinar on effective implementation of development programmes, he noted that sports infrastructure is being strengthened across the country. With major international events expected in India in the coming years and preparations under way for the Olympics, he said identifying and nurturing young athletes is essential for better performance on the global stage.
The Prime Minister said the government is working with a long-term vision, citing improvements in health infrastructure in recent years. He also stressed the need to focus more on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, automation and digital technologies.
Highlighting youth aspirations across rural and urban India, Modi said young people’s perseverance is a major national strength. To harness this potential, he said education reforms must continue, adding that the National Education Policy has laid the foundation and that effective implementation is now crucial.
