Indian travellers in Dubai have been left stranded as escalating regional tensions led to flight cancellations, disrupting return plans. Many were affected after hotel bookings ended, leaving them without a place to stay.
In response, Dubai-based Indian businessman Yogesh Doshi, chairman of the Al Mizan Group, has converted a residential building with 64 apartments into a temporary shelter. The accommodation is being provided free of cost, along with food and other basic facilities.
The initiative is being coordinated with the Indian People’s Forum and the Indian Consulate in Dubai, helping travellers who were short of money or had no accommodation.
A similar effort is underway in Ajman, a few kilometres from Dubai, where Indian businessman Tirth Tiraj Jain has extended support to stranded Indians. He arranged transport—including 11 cars, among them six Rolls-Royces—to bring travellers stuck at hotels and other locations, and the effort has provided temporary shelter to more than 125 Indians.
The humanitarian assistance has drawn appreciation as uncertainty continues amid the war-related tensions in the region.
