Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, who has been transferred to West Bengal, said he would never forget the love shown by the people of Tamil Nadu.
In a statement, Ravi said he spent the last 54 months closely interacting with “Tamil relatives” and living in their affection. Though circumstances now require him to part ways, he said the days spent in Tamil Nadu would remain the golden period of his life, adding that he felt like a member of a Tamil family.
He also spoke about the state’s approach to education, saying people here understand not just book learning but the precision and wisdom behind it, and express it at the right time.
Referring to Indian cultural traditions, Ravi said it is difficult for anyone in India to be untouched by the influence of Rama and Krishna. He noted that studying the Bhagavad Gita and Tulsidas’ Ramayana from a young age, and later Kamban’s epic, broadened his perspective.
Calling temples the greatest among Tamil Nadu’s special features, he mentioned Chidambaram Nataraja and Srirangam Ranganatha as part of the family of Tamil Thaai and the people of the state. He added that words were insufficient to describe the affection he received or to convey his gratitude.
