An attack was reported on a cargo ship heading to India near the Strait of Hormuz, with three crew members missing, according to the Thai Navy.

The vessel, registered in Thailand, had departed from a port in the United Arab Emirates and was sailing towards Kandla port in Gujarat when the incident occurred near the Hormuz Strait.

The Thai Navy said 20 people on board were rescued soon after the attack. However, three crew members could not be traced.

Authorities have begun an inquiry to determine who carried out the attack. The incident comes amid tensions in West Asia, with reports that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed, disrupting crude oil supplies.
