Chennai Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday congratulated candidates who cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination, describing their achievement as far from ordinary. Speaking at a felicitation event for successful candidates in Chennai, he said the UPSC is among the toughest examinations in the world.
Stalin noted that in previous years, the number of successful candidates from Tamil Nadu had been declining. After the formation of the “Dravidian model” government, he said steps were taken to address the trend, and that the results are now visible.
He said it was a matter of added happiness that 56 of the 60 candidates selected from Tamil Nadu this year had benefited from the state’s ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ programme. He expressed hope that the number of successful candidates from the state would rise further.
Urging the new officers to serve people across India, he said more youth from Tamil Nadu should work in different states for the welfare of ordinary citizens and contribute to improving relations between countries. He also advised them to stay connected with their parents, saying such care and affection would support their career growth.
The event was streamed live online, including on Dinamalar’s YouTube platforms.
