The Election Commission has instructed election enforcement teams to mandatorily record details of cash and items seized without proper documents in the ESMS mobile application during the Assembly election period.
To monitor the Model Code of Conduct, flying squads, static surveillance teams and video surveillance units have been formed in Assembly constituencies. These teams include officials from revenue and other government departments, along with police personnel.
Under the enforcement rules, cash or goods worth more than Rs 50,000 being transported without valid documentation can be seized. The Commission has now directed that such seizure details be entered into the ESMS app immediately.
Officials said the app was used in the previous election as well, but network issues led to details not being uploaded and seizures being handed over directly to treasuries. For the upcoming election, they said the app has been updated to work offline, and teams have been instructed to record seizure information without delay.
