India and the United States are in the final stages of concluding a significant minerals agreement, according to India’s Ambassador to the US, Sergio Gor.

Speaking at a conference hosted by an English news channel, Gor said the bilateral relationship is poised to reach a “historic” level of progress, and that an important announcement could be made in the coming months.

He noted that the two countries have already seen a series of notable advances that demonstrate momentum and strength in ties.

Gor also said the personal rapport between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump played an important role in moving the India–US trade agreement towards completion.

He added that Modi maintained a friendly relationship with Trump even when Trump was not in the White House, and described this as a sign of genuine friendship that Trump recognised.
