Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced that parties in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, will hold protests on March 17 in district headquarters.

In a statement, Palaniswami alleged that since the DMK came to power, law and order in the state has deteriorated and that crimes such as murder, robbery, sexual assault, attacks on elderly people living alone and chain-snatching have increased.

He further accused Chief Minister M K Stalin of remaining a “mute spectator” to what he described as anti-people activities, and said the protests are aimed at condemning the DMK government for failing to protect law and order.

According to the announcement, demonstrations will be held at 10 am on March 17 in all revenue district headquarters.

Separately, the Tamil Nadu BJP has also announced district-level protests on the same demand, with state BJP president Nainar Nagendran stating that a large-scale protest will be held on March 15 at 4 pm across districts, alleging a rise in violence against women since the DMK assumed office.
