VCK (Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan on Friday said actor Rajinikanth is not someone who is deeply invested in posts or political power.
His remarks came after a speech by TVK election management general secretary Aadhav Arjuna triggered controversy. In the event, Arjuna claimed Rajinikanth had wanted to emerge as a major leader in Tamil Nadu after MGR and to change the political system, but alleged that threats from the DMK “family” prevented him from entering politics.
The comments drew sharp criticism and angered Rajinikanth’s fans. Responding to reporters’ questions, Thirumavalavan said the allegation was “without evidence” and questioned the basis on which it was made.
He added that Rajinikanth does not have a strong desire for office or authority and has largely stayed away from that sphere. Thirumavalavan said he believes Rajinikanth is mature and would not have backed down from his stance out of fear, calling the claim a mistaken view.
