New Delhi: With fuel prices rising amid tensions in West Asia, airlines have begun increasing airfares by introducing or revising fuel surcharges.

Akasa Air said it will roll out a new fuel surcharge from March 15. The move is expected to raise ticket prices by Rs 199 to Rs 1,300, depending on the route distance and travel time.

The airline added that passengers who booked tickets before 12 midnight on March 15 will not be affected by the revised pricing.

Similar hikes have been announced by IndiGo and Air India as well. IndiGo has increased domestic fares by up to Rs 425 and international fares by up to Rs 2,300, effective from midnight today.

Air India, meanwhile, has raised domestic fares by up to Rs 399 and international fares by up to Rs 18,000.
