Coimbatore remarks

BJP leader K Annamalai, speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, said the DMK-led alliance is witnessing internal unrest and that Tamil Nadu politics often sees a “twist” as election dates approach.

Seat-sharing friction cited

Referring to comments attributed to a CPM leader, Annamalai said allies were questioning why the Congress was being offered more seats while Left parties felt short-changed. He also pointed to demands raised by MDMK leader Vaiko and claimed that leaders within the alliance were increasingly voicing dissatisfaction.

Possible realignment

Annamalai said it remains to be seen whether parties such as VCK and the Communist parties would stay in the alliance, shift to another front or contest separately. He argued that long-time partners were being reduced to “one or two seats,” which, he said, was being challenged as unfair.

Criticism over law and order

He also criticised Chief Minister M K Stalin over the Vilathikulam case, alleging police inaction after a complaint was filed and calling it an administrative failure. Separately, Annamalai took aim at the Chief Minister’s social media messaging, citing crime statistics and accusing the government of not focusing on governance.
