CHANDIGARH: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has decided to expand its branches and strengthen community linkages through public outreach programmes as part of its centenary celebrations, joint general secretary C.R. Mukund said.
The organisation’s top decision-making forum, the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, began its three-day meeting in Haryana on Thursday. The session at Samalkha was inaugurated by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale.
More than 1,500 members, including senior functionaries, are participating in the meeting. Addressing the gathering, Mukund highlighted the scale of the ‘Griha Sampark’ initiative, saying it has reached over 10 crore households across the country and covered more than three lakh villages.
He said the outreach included goodwill meetings and interactions through circles of prominent individuals to create positive social impact. In Kerala, he added, volunteers reached families including those from Muslim and Christian communities as well as individuals aligned with communist ideology, and also expanded engagement in tribal areas.
Mukund said the RSS will focus on two priorities during the centenary period: widening its network of branches and building stronger connections in society through public relations and outreach projects.
