Madurai: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan said actor Rajinikanth is not someone who can be lured by governance, politics or power.
Speaking to reporters in Madurai, he referred to the death of a youth named Akash from Manamadurai while in police custody, and urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to take action against the police personnel concerned.
He also cited the sexual assault and murder of a school student in Vilathikulam, and said the state government should provide compensation to the victim’s family.
On political developments, Thirumavalavan said reports about an alliance involving the AIADMK, the BJP and Vijay’s party had not taken full shape, and alleged that rumours were being spread against the DMK-led alliance.
Rejecting claims by TVK functionary Aadhav Arjuna that the DMK had “driven away” Rajinikanth to prevent him from entering politics, he called it imaginary. He said Rajinikanth had stepped away from that phase and could not be enticed back, adding that the actor had once considered starting a party to meet fans’ expectations but later dropped the idea, sensing the political climate was not suitable. He also said it was wrong to portray Rajinikanth as having been threatened, and added that Sasikala’s next political moves remain to be seen.
