Chennai’s long-awaited Velachery–St Thomas Mount suburban rail service began operations today. The first train departed Velachery at 5.25 am and reached St Thomas Mount at 6.05 am, a milestone for the city’s suburban rail network.
Air India and Air India Express are scheduled to operate 80 flights to Gulf countries today. The special services are aimed at bringing back people stranded in West Asia.
In Tamil Nadu, public grievance camps under the Public Distribution System are being held statewide, with officials tasked to ensure quicker redressal of complaints raised at the camps.
