DMK functionaries in Coimbatore district are distributing what they call “silver pots” to voters, citing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s birthday as the occasion. The distribution is being carried out booth-wise as part of a welfare assistance drive.
According to the report, lists were prepared during the voter list revision exercise, based on door-to-door data collection. Voters were broadly classified as DMK/alliance supporters or “neutral”, and tokens were issued for gifts to those categories, while those identified as AIADMK and BJP supporters were excluded.
The token reportedly carries details such as the head of the family’s name, constituency, booth number, family number, serial number, local unit, and the count of male and female voters in the household. Ward secretaries and branch-level functionaries are said to be verifying tokens during house visits before handing over one pot per family.
The token also contains four boxes below the serial number, with one box being ticked and returned, which has led to public speculation that three more gift items may follow. Party workers said they were instructed to complete distribution to all token holders, and advised recipients to keep the token safely as further items were indicated.
