The Election Commission of India on March 15 announced that the Tamil Nadu Assembly election will be held in a single phase on April 23.

The schedule was released at a press conference at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi by Chief Election Commissioner Gyaneshwar Kumar and other Election Commissioners. Poll dates for Puducherry, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam were also announced.

For Tamil Nadu, nominations will open on March 30 and close on April 6. Scrutiny is set for April 7, while the last date for withdrawal is April 9.

Polling will take place on April 23, and votes will be counted on May 4.

Assam, Kerala and Puducherry will vote on April 9, with counting on May 4. West Bengal will go to polls in two phases—April 23 and April 29—with counting on May 4.
