TVK chief Vijay flew to Delhi on Saturday for a third round of questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Karur campaign meeting crowd incident in which 41 people died. He is scheduled to appear before CBI officials at 10 am, with party sources saying the inquiry could continue the next day as well.

According to the report, Vijay arrived at Chennai airport around 3.20 pm along with seven party functionaries, including Aadhav Arjuna, Nirmalkumar and Jagadeesh, to board a private aircraft. During security checks, CISF personnel allegedly found a foreign liquor bottle and a pair of scissors in a bag said to be carried for Vijay.

The report said security officials did not permit the items to be taken on board, leading to a delay of about 44 minutes, with the aircraft departing at 4.04 pm. However, TVK deputy general secretary Nirmalkumar denied that any such incident occurred during the airport screening.

While Vijay is in Delhi for the CBI probe, party functionaries claimed he may also meet key figures to discuss an electoral alliance. They said that although Vijay had earlier indicated he would contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly election alone, there has been pressure from the BJP side in recent days to join the NDA.

The same sources further claimed that internal feedback from district-level functionaries largely favoured joining an AIADMK-BJP alliance, and that Vijay may announce a clear decision after returning to Tamil Nadu. They also alleged that actor Trisha travelled urgently to Mumbai to meet RSS and BJP figures and later came to Delhi to share her views with Vijay on the alliance question.
