CBSE has announced the cancellation of Class 12 board examinations in several West Asian countries due to what it described as an “abnormal situation”. The exams were scheduled to be held from March 16 to April 10.

CBSE-affiliated schools operate in countries where many Indians work, including Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, under the Union Ministry of Education’s curriculum framework.

The decision comes amid heightened tension in the region linked to the Israel-Iran war situation. Earlier, certain papers of the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 examinations in the region had already been cancelled.

CBSE said the affected students would be provided an opportunity to take the examinations at an appropriate time, and results would be declared after the exams are conducted.
