AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday appealed to Muslims and other minorities to support the party in forming a government in Tamil Nadu.
He was speaking at an Iftar event organised by the AIADMK at Egmore in Chennai. Leaders from the NDA alliance, including Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran, AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran and TMC (Moopanar) president G K Vasan, also attended.
Palaniswami said his tenure was a “golden period” for minority communities and claimed he had introduced several schemes for Muslims. He asserted that he would not deviate “even an atom’s length” from the principles of secularism and social harmony.
He alleged that the DMK and its allies were creating an impression that they alone protect minorities, and claimed the AIADMK safeguards them. Calling for the removal of the DMK government, he said it was everyone’s duty to defeat a regime he described as marked by bribery and corruption.
