A polling station near Varusanadu in Theni district’s Andipatti Assembly constituency has only five registered voters, according to electoral records.
The booth falls under Part No. 245 for Vellimalai village. The voter list includes three men and two women, and one of them is a first-time voter.
Polling arrangements have been made at a government-aided school in the area.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, in a recent interaction, highlighted the booth as an example of the challenges of election duty in remote regions. He noted that election officials have to carry electronic voting machines and travel for around three hours along a rough mountain route.
Revenue department officials said the polling station is located in a forest area.
