Jerusalem: With tensions rising in the Middle East, rumours circulating online claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been killed.
Israeli media reports said the speculation spread widely on social platforms even as the Prime Minister’s Office repeatedly maintained that Netanyahu is alive and in good health.
To counter the claims, the Prime Minister’s Office earlier shared a clip on its official X account showing Netanyahu speaking while drinking coffee. However, fresh doubts emerged after some users alleged the video was generated using artificial intelligence.
On Monday, a second video was released in which Netanyahu extended Nowruz greetings to the people of Iran. Nowruz is an ancient festival marking the arrival of spring and the beginning of the new year.
In the message, Netanyahu wished Iranians a joyful holiday season and spoke of light overcoming darkness and good prevailing over evil, urging people to celebrate with family and loved ones.
