New Delhi: The Union Petroleum Ministry has reiterated that there is no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in India, even as the ongoing conflict in West Asia has affected parts of the global supply chain.

Officials said the disruption is linked to the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, a key route through which LPG shipments bound for India typically travel. The ministry described the impact on logistics as a matter of concern, but stressed that household cylinder distribution continues without interruption across the country.

According to the ministry, shortages have been reported only in a few places for commercial LPG cylinders. States have been asked to prevent hoarding and ensure smooth availability.

The ministry also said India currently has adequate crude oil stocks, refineries are operating at full capacity, and petrol pumps are functioning normally. No distributor has reported a complete depletion of fuel stocks.

Consumers were advised not to panic and, where possible, shift to piped natural gas (PNG). Commercial LPG users in major cities were also encouraged to move to PNG and apply for new connections via email, post, or through city gas distribution (CGD) consumer portals.
