Former Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at its Delhi office on March 17 in connection with the Karur stampede case.

The case relates to a crowd crush at a meeting in Karur attended by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay, in which 41 people died. TVK functionaries had submitted a complaint to CBI officials alleging that Senthil Balaji, a former minister from the DMK, was behind the incident.

Following the complaint, the CBI had issued a summons asking Senthil Balaji to appear for inquiry. He complied and presented himself at the Delhi office.

Officials questioned him and he responded to their queries, according to the report. Vijay has earlier appeared in person at the CBI office in Delhi three times in this case to provide an explanation.
