Teja alliance parties held protests across Tamil Nadu on Monday, pressing for stronger law and order measures and improved women’s safety. The demonstrations were organised to condemn incidents of sexual violence in the state.
Leaders participated in protests at various locations. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) joined the Chennai protest, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss took part in Cuddalore, AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran participated in Thanjavur, and TMC (Moopanar) leader G.K. Vasan joined the protest in Erode.
In Madurai district, a protest was held at Palanganatham under the banner of the National Democratic Alliance parties, with Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran and former AIADMK ministers participating.
Speaking at a protest in MGR Nagar, Chennai, EPS alleged that the state’s intelligence wing had become ineffective. He also claimed that drug circulation had increased and that ganja sales near schools and colleges were affecting students.
The Chennai protest led by EPS, targeting the DMK government, was livestreamed on Dinamalar’s YouTube and other online platforms.
