PUDUCHERRY: Even before seat-sharing discussions with the Congress are concluded, the DMK has begun filing nomination papers across all 30 Assembly constituencies in Puducherry.
Polling for the Puducherry Assembly election is scheduled for April 9. The Election Commission has said nominations can be filed until 3 pm on March 23, though no papers were submitted in the first two days.
Against this backdrop, DMK functionaries have moved to file nominations in every constituency despite the party being part of the Congress-led alliance and the seat-sharing arrangement still not being finalised. The agreement has also not been signed yet.
DMK representatives said the limited time available for filing nominations prompted the move. They added that nominations were filed as it was considered an auspicious day, and that papers would be withdrawn later if the party leadership directs changes once constituencies are finalised.
