The Madras High Court has declined to remove the interim stay on the civil court proceedings in cases linked to PMK founder S. Ramadoss and party leader Anbumani Ramadoss. The court said any order at this stage could interfere with the ongoing election process.

The dispute stems from a petition filed by Ramadoss before a Chennai civil court seeking to restrain Anbumani from using the party’s name, symbol and flag. In response, Anbumani’s side moved a petition seeking dismissal of Ramadoss’ plea.

Separately, PMK general secretary Vadivel Ravanan filed an application seeking to be impleaded in the case. While hearing these matters earlier, the High Court had imposed an interim stay on the civil court trial.

Ramadoss later approached the High Court seeking to vacate the stay. After hearing both sides, Justice D.V. Thamizhselvi refused to lift the stay and also stayed hearings on all interim applications pending before the civil court.

The High Court directed the Chennai civil court to take up all the pending cases for hearing only after the elections are over, specifically after May 10.
