TVK leader and actor Vijay on Tuesday asked supporters not to believe rumours about political alliances, asserting that his party is focused on forming a government under its own leadership.

He was speaking at an Iftar gathering organised by TVK at a star hotel in Mamallapuram on March 18. Vijay took part in the breaking of the fast and later joined a special prayer arranged at the venue.

Addressing the gathering, Vijay said speculation about him being part of “this team” or “that team” had been circulating since he entered politics. He said he belonged only to the “people’s team” and claimed attempts to spread misinformation had not succeeded.

He alleged that a fresh round of false प्रचार had been started suggesting he would join one alliance or another, and said such reports could confuse the public. Vijay reiterated that TVK would never compromise on secular principles and secular social justice, and maintained that there would be no negotiations that dilute the party’s stand.

Vijay also conveyed Ramadan greetings to Muslim brothers and sisters, urging them to stay confident and hopeful, and said the party would achieve its target with God’s grace.
