Election flying squad officials seized 46 kg of gold bars in Chennai’s Madhavaram area after finding them being transported without proper documentation.
With the Assembly election announced, the Model Code of Conduct is in force. Authorities have intensified checks and are seizing cash and valuables carried without valid papers, especially when the value exceeds Rs 50,000.
During a routine inspection in Madhavaram, the team stopped a vehicle and conducted a search. Officials discovered gold bars weighing 46 kg inside the vehicle.
As no supporting documents were produced, the matter was reported to the election authorities. The gold bars were subsequently confiscated.
