Premium-grade petrol prices have been increased across India, with oil marketing companies raising rates by up to Rs 2.35 per litre from today.
The revision comes amid global supply concerns linked to the ongoing war involving the US and Israel against Iran, and Iran’s actions affecting Gulf routes, which have impacted crude oil supply and the wider fuel market.
HPCL, BPCL and Indian Oil have raised prices for their premium variants—HPCL’s Power Petrol, BPCL’s Speed and IOC’s XP95—by Rs 2.09 to Rs 2.35 per litre. The increase applies only to premium petrol and not to regular petrol used by most consumers.
In Delhi, Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma said there is no increase in the price of normal petrol, adding that premium fuels account for only about 2% to 4% of total daily petrol sales.
Following the premium petrol hike, oil companies also announced an increase in petrol supplied to industries, raising the price from Rs 87.67 per litre to Rs 109.59 per litre.
