The Tamil Nadu State Women’s Commission has launched a suo motu inquiry against former AIADMK minister C.V. Shanmugam for making controversial remarks about actor Nayanthara.

The remarks were made during a protest held in Villupuram on March 17, where Shanmugam reportedly referred to the actor by name, triggering widespread criticism.

Based on media reports, Commission chairperson Kumari has registered a case on her own initiative and begun the inquiry.

As Shanmugam is a Rajya Sabha MP, the Commission has decided to submit a complaint to the Parliament Secretariat and recommend action to the Director General of Police (DGP).
