Several political and public events are in focus on March 21 across Tamil Nadu and beyond.
The CPI(M) convened its party executive committee meeting on an urgent basis today, advancing it from the earlier plan to meet on March 23. The discussions reportedly centred on the continuing uncertainty over seat-sharing within the DMK-led alliance.
On the electoral front, the second round of interviews for candidates to contest under the TVK banner was held. Sources said Vijay has finalised candidates for 50 constituencies, and the party is expected to announce its Puducherry candidate list today.
In Delhi, AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran of the TEJ alliance is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah this morning for seat-sharing discussions, with an appointment fixed for 11.30 am.
Meanwhile, the visit of BJP in-charge for Tamil Nadu, Piyush Goyal, which was expected today for AIADMK-BJP seat-sharing talks, has been postponed. The delay is seen as extending the ongoing uncertainty in the negotiations.
Separately, Ramzan celebrations are being observed across Tamil Nadu and the country. Muslims participated in special prayers in the morning, exchanged greetings and embraced one another as part of the festivities.
