Former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Thursday said Tamil Nadu is seen as a “pioneer state” in India due to the efforts of Chief Minister M K Stalin. He made the remarks while addressing a DMK meeting in Srivilliputhur.
Panneerselvam said the state government has implemented its own schemes effectively even when the Centre did not provide adequate funds. He also claimed that the Tamil Nadu government has carried out central schemes efficiently.
He said welfare programmes for people across sections have been implemented well, and that this has kept people happy. He added that Stalin has been functioning in the Assembly by accommodating everyone.
In the same speech, Panneerselvam criticised Edappadi K Palaniswami and Udhayakumar, alleging they had damaged the movement built by M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa. He also said he was deeply saddened at Jayalalithaa’s death and that he is now happy after joining the DMK.
Ministers Sattur Ramachandran and Thangam Thennarasu also attended the event and spoke.
