Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has alleged that the Congress and Rahul Gandhi are functioning as the BJP’s “B team”, in remarks made in an interview to PTI.

Referring to the Sabarimala gold cover issue, Vijayan said the Kerala High Court is monitoring the probe and has not found any lapses so far. He added that the state government would not spare anyone connected to the matter.

He dismissed opposition allegations as politically motivated and said they would not have any impact on the election scheduled for April 9. Vijayan also claimed that major changes have been introduced in Kerala’s education sector and that the quality of institutions has reached international standards.

The Chief Minister accused the Congress of pursuing “compromise politics” and seeking support from both majority and minority groups that engage in communalism, while asserting that the Left Democratic Front opposes communalism of any kind and does not seek backing from such groups.

Vijayan further alleged that the Centre has adopted a hostile approach towards Kerala on several issues, including funding for Wayanad rehabilitation. He called BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s claim that the Centre had provided significant help to the state “foolish”. The remarks come amid Rahul Gandhi’s earlier comment that central agencies have arrested or summoned opposition leaders, except the Kerala Chief Minister.
