Chennai: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has said the “Dravidian model” should continue for the next five years for Tamil Nadu’s development to be completed. In a statement, he urged voters to support the DMK to achieve the targets he has set.

Stalin said he had released a set of sector-wise development goals for the coming five years under the name “Stalin Statement”. He said these goals are aimed at ensuring Tamil Nadu’s progress across key departments.

Among the announcements, he said the Rural Development Department would implement the “Uthamar Gandhi Model Villages” scheme. The Industries Department would create employment opportunities for 50 lakh youth, while MSME initiatives would include setting up five special industrial clusters.

He also listed plans to improve milk production and fishermen’s livelihoods through the Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries departments, and to upgrade urban infrastructure through the Municipal Administration department. The Highways department would introduce modern road safety technologies, and Handlooms and Textiles would roll out measures to improve weavers’ livelihoods.

Further, he said the Housing department would build a total of seven lakh houses in rural and urban areas, and the Health department would provide adequate medical insurance to all who need it. Agriculture would focus on expanding cultivation area, School Education would implement smart classrooms, Library 5.0 and “Vetri Palli” initiatives, and Higher Education would roll out schemes including “Naan Mudhalvan 2.0”. He also mentioned programmes for the economic advancement of Backward Classes and said eligible Adi Dravidar beneficiaries would be provided house-site pattas.
