The United States has said its forces carried out an attack on Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, a key uranium enrichment site. Iranian news agencies reported that the site came under an air strike and said there was no radiation leak from the location.

The development comes amid an ongoing conflict involving Iran, the US and Israel. According to the report, the US and Israel began military action on the 28th citing concerns over a nuclear threat, and Iran has since carried out retaliatory strikes targeting gas facilities in Israel and neighbouring countries, as well as US military bases in the West Asia region.

Natanz, located about 220 km southeast of Tehran, is described as Iran’s main enrichment centre under the 2015 nuclear agreement. The facility is built underground at an estimated depth of 40–50 metres.

Iranian reports said Natanz had been a target from the early days of the war and that the latest air strike caused significant damage. Satellite imagery was cited as showing multiple buildings at the site damaged.

US President Donald Trump said Washington is considering reducing its military operations in Iran. However, the report also said the US has reinforced its presence by deploying three additional amphibious assault ships and 2,500 naval personnel to the region, as experts warned that repeated attacks on critical infrastructure could push the conflict into a more dangerous phase.
